Shrink Percentage Calculator

What is Shrink Percentage?

Shrinkage is the percentage change between an object’s original size and its reduced or final size. It’s commonly used in manufacturing, textiles, and various industries to measure how much an object has reduced in size.

The Formula for Shrink Percentage

The formula for calculating shrink percentage is:

Shrink Percentage = ( Original Size −Final Size / Original Size ) × 100

Explanation of the Formula

  • Original Size: This refers to the initial or starting size of the object.
  • Final Size: This denotes the size of the object after it has undergone a change, such as shrinkage or reduction.

The formula subtracts the final size from the original size to determine the difference. Then, it divides this difference by the original size and multiplies by 100 to express the change as a percentage.

Using the Calculator

  1. Enter the original size of the object in the “Original Size” field.
  2. Enter the final size of the object in the “Final Size” field.
  3. Click the “Calculate” button to compute the shrink percentage.
  4. The calculated shrink percentage will appear in the “Shrink Percentage” field.

Example

Suppose the original size of an object is 100 units, and it reduces to a final size of 75 units.

Using the formula:

Shrink Percentage = ( 100 − 75 / 100) × 100

= (25 / 100) × 100

= 25

Therefore, the shrink percentage in this case would be 25%.
